Local Area Information

There’s a lot to love about Bude, the small seaside resort on the northern tip of Cornwall. With a laid back allure all of its own, and so much to see and do, we have something for everyone. From romantic whisk aways to fun-fuelled family holidays, it’s all here where Cornwall begins and everyday cares melt away.  Bude is repeatedly named (via public vote) as the Best UK Coastal Town winning a series of Silver and Gold awards in the British Travel Awards. The town’s eco credentials are second to none, and its progressive attitude and community spirit is as uplifting as it is refreshing.

With excellent surf and clean beaches, Bude is well known for its surf schools and water-based fun and its founding role in the UK’s Surf Life Saving movement. Wild swimming is increasingly popular – a good way to de-stress and the perfect digital detox – and there are very few mornings in the year that you’ll wander by Bude Sea Pool without admiring the hardy souls swimming lengths in the 90m tidal pool before heading back into town in their dry robes for a coffee.  Bude has two main beaches Crooklets and Summerleaze - both within easy walking distance of the property.

Bude is a walker's heaven and a perfect base from which to explore the South West Coast Path. In the quieter months you’ll often have the dramatic coastline to yourself. Parts of the path are certainly challenging and not for the fainthearted, but there are also easier routes to be found, and on a low tide, you can usually walk one way along the beach, admiring the rock formations and exploring the hidden coves.

If you like to include a little shopping when you are on holiday you will find Bude is the perfect little town.  It has a great selection of cool independent stores, it’s not just the awesome surf shops that attracts visitors, there are vintage fashion shops, art galleries, antiques and collectables. It’s refreshingly diverse with a surprise at every turn, exploring the shops in Bude is a great way to spend an afternoon and only minutes from the beaches and restaurants. Think hip little boutiques, fashion and crafts rather than chain stores and you will get the picture.
